Bobby the bear had a big birthday. He was born in the best bear den by the blue bay.
"Bobby!" barked Bella bunny. "Big day, buddy!"
Bobby beamed. "Bella! Bring the bubbles!"
Bobby's backpack bulged with birthday books. His baseball bobbed in the back. A rubber crab sat by the ribbon.
Bobby and Bella biked to the beach. The bright sun burned above. Bobby grabbed his big blue tub.
"Let's build a big sand crab!" said Bobby.
Bella grabbed a bucket. "Best idea ever, Bobby!"
They dug in the warm sand. Bobby found a broken shell. Bella found a shiny pebble.
"This will be the crab's eye!" said Bella.
A big black bug buzzed by. Bobby jumped back!
"That bug is too big!" Bobby said.
The bug landed on Bobby's big sand crab. Bella giggled.
"The bug thinks our crab is real!" she said.
Bobby grabbed his bubble tube. He blew big, bouncy bubbles. The bubbles floated above the beach. Some bubbles landed on the bug!
The bug buzzed away. Bobby and Bella fell back on the sand, laughing.
"Best birthday ever!" said Bobby.
Then something splashed in the bay. A big blob rose from the water.
"What is that?" asked Bella.
A blue whale waved with its tail. It blew water high in the air!
"The whale came for my birthday!" Bobby clapped.
The whale splashed and made a big wave. The wave washed over their sand crab.
"Bye-bye, crab," said Bella.
Bobby smiled. "That's okay. We can build another one!"
And they did. The best birthday crab ever!
